Autism has been well linked with the conditions occuring in mother during pregnancy esp. during the first few week after conception.
Let us understand what all factors contributes to risk of Autism:
INTERNAL FACTORS DURING PREGNANCY:
A strong attachment ensures that the embryo connects with the mother’s blood vessels and remodels them to supply it with nutrients and oxygen throughout pregnancy. By contrast, a shallow implantation can lead to fetal growth restriction and low birth weight, both of which are linked to autism.
State of mind of mother: Autism was thought to be largely a genetic disorder, but it has also been noted that stress can play an important role in the development of the condition.
Also one could find if the mother had excessive use of certain medications, steriods can contribute its role towards autism.
EXTERNAL FACTORS DURING PREGNANCY:
At instance, most common cause is –
GENERAL FACTORS AFFECTING DEVELOPMENT OF CHILD DUE TO MOTHER BEFORE/DURING PREGNANCY:
When a women is found to be Obese, Hypertensive, Diabetic, suffering from Hypo/Hyperthyroidism before pregnancy these all doubles the risk of developing autism in child. Also if the mother suffers from excess of Vomiting during pregnancy or had previous fetal loss and maternal hypertension, proteinuria, preeclampsia, and swelling, fever these increases risk of autism.
Here, I would share you an example where a Mother was in DEPRESSION during her pregnancy and was in constant state of low spirited mood, along with it she was Hypertensive. These conditions of the mother during pregnancy affected the child in a manner where her 1st child suffered from ADHD and another from Dyslexia. These suggest that the condition of mother during pregnancy do gets transfered in one or another form of neurological disorder in children.
